This kit is in draft form and is offered for teachers to trial. It provides links to online resources and practical ideas to teach the content and skills of the national curriculum and culminates in a student project on a famous Victorian. Download a Teachers Guide and AusVELS grid here. A diigo website of bookmarks relating to the research options in this kit is also available and teachers and students are encouraged to add their own good websites. This fantastic kit was originally published in 2002 and provides information and primary sources for the study of the Chinese on the Goldfields. It is an excellent resource for the Victorian Essential Learning Standards and for the Australian Curriculum cross curriculum priority of Asia and Australia's Engagement with Asia. The kit should be used in conjunction with these two documents.

- These units involve some pre-visit work, some activities at Sovereign Hill and follow up work back at school.
- Each is designed to offer your students purpose, choice and ownership over their learning while on excursion and provides relevant VELS assessment procedures.
- Each unit culminates in the presentation of a rich task.
